Three years ago, Deirdre stepped away from a corporate job that left her feeling unfulfilled and immediately jumped out into the great wide open. Without knowing her next move, she used a four month stint in Los Angeles with her husband as a period of reflection and soul searching. It wasn’t until a random stop in Monterey, California en route to a friend’s wedding that she would meet her destiny. While attempting to fix a broken store-bought necklace, Deirdre came across a bead shop that presented her with her first opportunity to make her own jewelry. She excitedly created a simple pair of earrings, and the seed was planted.
On the road trip back home to New York, the second stroke of inspiration occurred. While exploring the French Quarter of New Orleans, Deirdre discovered a charming boutique owned by a young woman her age and she realized that controlling her own destiny was a goal that was within reach.
Upon returning to New York City, Deirdre immediately set out to learn everything she could about jewelry design, enrolling in classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology, as well as in classes at local bead shops. She also created her own hands-on education through endless hours of trial and error. Her innate sense of style immediately won the praise of friends and family, blossoming into a wider audience through word of mouth at her trunk shows in the Tri-State area and Chicago. With the arrival of her long-awaited website, Deirdre is excited by the prospect of sharing her jewelry with women around the globe.
Through creating her fun, relaxed jewelry, she hopes to do her part to help women bring out the multi-faceted aspects of their personalities by adding splash to their wardrobes. Her philosophy is that there are many facets to today’s woman. A polished side, a romantic streak, a casual vibe & maybe a little bit of vixen.
